Future Design Days: Nomad 2007-2009 |
|

Bruce Chatwin (1940-89) was Sotheby’s expert on impressionist art. He was also an author. He meant that the human being is essentially a nomad. He believed that the human’s normal state of mind is to be in motion, on the way, driven by curiosity, to discover and rediscover the world. His own wish, in the poet Rimbaud’s words, was to be L’homme aux semelles de vent – The man with soles of wind. The same wind is now pushing FutureDesignDays further. In our first book “2001; In Process” we wrote that “FutureDesignDays is a process that is intended to capture complicated contexts – and present them in a form that is both understandable and inspiring”. After six years of processing we feel it’s time to change shape. It’s time to find new formats and new meeting places to develop thoughts about design and disseminate them. FutureDesignDays is entering a new phase. We will continue to be the ongoing design process we’ve always aimed to be. We will be a living meeting place without a permanent place for action, but we will arise where the minds, the ideas, the intentions and the people are. We will pop up with arrangements and events, big and small, real or virtual. Then we will pack our bags and move on. With soles of wind. If you want to know where we’ll pop up next time, keep an eye out for the calendar on the official website.
