What's up interview: Alexia Somerville

During FutureDesignDays we had a chat with most of the speakers, asking them a few questions about their work and thoughts upon design. In our newsletter you will be able to read all of these interviews. This first week after the event we are happy to present our little interview with fashion stylist Alexia Somerville (UK).

What project are you working with right now?
I’m involved in a lot of projects all the time. Right now I’m working with some interesting album covers and PR. I will also have exciting meetings concerning jewellery design in a near future. But everything is very secret.

Name a designer/architect you appreciate.
Definitely Alexander McQueen

What is the worst design icon off all time?
The Elephant & Castle, a shopping centre in London. It’s painted in such a sickly colour.

What is your dream project?
To work with Madonna. I’m not a fan, but she is in a very interesting phase of her career. It seems to me that she doesn’t really know what to do.

Who do you want to see on FutureDesignDays’ stage and why?
John Galliano, he’s great inspiration for me. He absorbs energy from everything that’s happening and distils it to his clothes.

Do you have an idea to share with our blog- and newsletter readers?
Always wear the right underwear (your grandmother’s advices are always right), and hey guys, empty your pockets – it’s ugly to walk around with things in your pockets.
