The line-up in the Breakout Sessions for FutureDesignDays 2006 is complete. The last two Breakout Sessions to complete the list is Volvo Cars and Smart Design. Volvo Cars, Maria Uggla (SE) and Andreas Friedrich (SE) Like all of this year’s Breakout Sessions, Volvo Cars’ session will be high on the interest factor. You will meet Andreas Friedrich, Car Interior Designer, and Maria Uggla, Colour & Trim Designer, both of whom helped to create Volvo’s latest and smallest car, the Volvo C30. This Breakout Session will give you an in-depth insight into the way Volvo’s latest model was designed. It will also provide a clearer understanding of how close collaboration was crucial to a bold end result. Smart Design Europe, Blake McEldowney (ES) and Jordi Morillo (ES) Smart Design and Hewlett Packard built a comprehensive new Product Platform for large format printers. Contextual customer research uncovered key customer experience needs, which enabled the team to create a set of innovative solutions materialized in a robust customer interface model. This session is about how the unique collaboration between the design team, the customer research team and HP’s engineers, resulted in a design concept that was very well adapted to the needs of the customer but within technical limitations of the technology.
