| Sweden in the top position |
|
Last week FutureDesignDays went to listen to Richard Florida, professor of regional economic development at Carnegie Mellon University. We found his ideas very interesting already when we met him at World Creative Forum in London two years ago. He’s the man behind the theory of the creative class, which he describes in his books ”The Flight of the Creative Class” and ”The Rise of the Creative Class”. His idea is that we have left the industrial era and stepped into the creative era, where the creative class are looking for cities and areas characterized of tolerance, social care, equality and openness. Those are the places that will develop and become rich from all point of views. Florida thinks that Sweden as a country has the best conditions in the world to become such a place. FutureDesignDays nods of assent, and thinks that Stockholm’s International Fairs in the middle of November is the place to be for the creative class.
